Complaint against Kangana Ranaut over ‘freedom in begging’ statement, demand for FIR raised

Actress Kangana Ranaut, who was recently awarded the Padma Shri, is in trouble due to her statement regarding independence. Kangana (Kangana Ranaut freedom was bheek remark) had described the freedom given to India as ‘beggar’, due to which a complaint has been lodged against the actress.

Kangana had said in the recent Times Now Summit that India did not get independence in 1947, but begged and the freedom that it got was given in 2014. This video of Kangana Ranaut was becoming very viral on social media. In this statement, Kangana was referring to the BJP government. But due to this statement, Kangana is now in trouble.

Now Aam Aadmi Party’s National Executive member Preeti Sharma Menon has filed a complaint against the actress in Mumbai. The party condemned the derogatory statement made by Kangana and appealed to register a case of sedition against her.

Preeti Menon tweeted that she has submitted an application to Mumbai Police, requesting action against Kangana Ranaut under sections 504, 505 and 124A for her seditious and provocative statements.

Earlier Varun Gandhi had condemned Kangana’s comments and tweeted, “This is an anti-national act and this is what it should be called. Not saying this would be a betrayal of those who shed their blood and today we can stand firm and free as a country. People can never forget the innumerable sacrifices of our freedom movement in which lakhs of lives were lost and many families were destroyed. This shameful humiliation of these martyrs cannot be termed as mere reckless or senseless statement. Sometimes an insult to the sacrifice and penance of Mahatma Gandhi, sometimes the respect of his killer, and now the disdain for the sacrifices of millions of freedom fighters from Shaheed Mangal Pandey to Rani Laxmibai, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and more. Should I call this thinking madness or treason?’

Kangana Ranaut retaliated on this tweet of Varun Gandhi. Kangana replied to Varun on Instagram as the Twitter account was banned. Sharing the screenshot of his tweet on his Instagram story, he wrote, ‘I have clearly stated that the revolution of 1857 was the first freedom struggle, which was suppressed and as a result the atrocities and cruelty of the British increased even more. Then about a century later, we were given freedom in Gandhiji’s begging bowl.

Case in respect of controversial remarks on Tablighi Jamaat
On the other hand, a revised application has also been filed against Kangana Ranaut in another case. Advocate Ali Kashif Khan Deshmukh has filed a revision complaint against Kangana and her sister Rangoli in connection with the April 2020 complaint in the Sessions Court, Mumbai. This was earlier rejected by the Magistrate Court.

In April 2020, Kangana Ranaut made objectionable remarks against Tablighi Jamaat on her Twitter handle, which hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community. In that case, Ali Kashif Khan had filed a complaint against the actress, which was rejected by the Metropolitan Magistrate Court.

Ali Kashif Khan has now approached the city collector to issue a sanction on his complaint. “The complaint should not have been dismissed outright when the magistrate had already directed the police report to be filed under section 202 of CrPC,” he said. Court should have kept it for compliance of the same.
