New Delhi. To reduce fraud, the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has warned its members not to share important information about their EPF account, personal information or OTP information over the phone or online. The EPFO ​​has issued a fraud notice in view of the growing risk of OTP fraud and EPF. According to the EPFO, EPF members should not share personal information such as their Aadhaar card number, PAN, bank account number or UAN number with anyone on WhatsApp or social media. This risks stealing members’ money.

EPFO has sent a message to all members through its official Twitter account. “EPFO never asks its members to share personal information such as Aadhaar, PAN, UAN, bank account or OTP over phone or social media,” the tweet said.

EPFO has also released a graphic with the tweet. Beware of fraud! Members are being alerted to the impending danger. The EPFO ​​said in another tweet, “He never asks for money through WhatsApp or social media. The EPFO ​​has also asked members not to respond to calls or messages asking for personal information or OTP as this could lead to fraud.

Members can contact EPFO ​​through the official website www.epfindia.gov.in for any queries, suspicious calls or messages or other issues. EPFO members should store their documents online at DigiLocker, a secure cloud-based official platform for document protection, sharing and authentication. To use the DigiLocker service, Android and iOS users must first log in. EPFO services such as UAN Card, Pension Payment Order (PPO) and Scheme Certificate are all available on Digilocker.

EPFO is the world’s largest social security organization in terms of subscribers and financial transactions. It manages and organizes provident fund, pension and life insurance services in India. The country’s government has set an interest rate of 8.5% for the fiscal year 2020-21.
